Sika Damp Proofing Slurry 20kg is a polymer-modified cementitious coating for creating a continuous barrier against damp and water penetration on suitable mineral backgrounds. Once mixed with clean water, the powder produces a workable slurry or mortar that can be applied directly to prepared concrete, render, brickwork and blockwork. It is particularly useful for cellar and basement tanking, foundation walls and other areas where a bonded waterproof coating is required rather than a sheet membrane. The 20kg format is supplied in a practical tub, giving users a convenient container for transport, storage and mixing on site.
Suitable for internal and external waterproofing work, the coating can be adjusted to suit brush, trowel or wet-spray application. Its cement-based formulation provides good adhesion and workability while producing considerably less odour than traditional bituminous damp-proof coatings. Sika Damp Proofing Slurry is BBA approved and is identified by Sika as a polymer-cement waterproof coating suitable for specified Type A shallow basement structures under BS 8102:2022.
Protecting the Finished Waterproofing
Sika Damp Proofing Slurry is intended as the waterproof barrier, not as the final traffic-bearing floor surface. Where it is applied to a floor, the completed coating should be protected with a suitable levelling screed. Care must also be taken when subsequently fixing battens, boards or fittings because drilling through the waterproof layer can compromise the membrane. Surface bonding methods should be considered where appropriate rather than unnecessarily puncturing the coating.
